A castle for the UN
The representative Haus Carstanjen, which was built in 1892 and which accommodates UN organisations today, is wonderfully located at the banks of the Rhine. Since June of 1996, the Haus Carstanjen, which looks like a little castle, is the headquarters of the UNV, the “Freiwilligen-Organisation der United Nations”, the “Klimarahmenkonvention” (UNFCCC) and the “Wüstenkonvention” (UNCCD). Moreover, the “United Nations Information Center (UNIC)” and the “Bonner Konventionen zur Erhaltung wandernder wildlebender Tiere (CMS)” have their offices here.
