The Chancellor’s bungalow is the former residence and reception of the Federal Chancellor. Designed in 1963 by renowned architect Sep Ruf, it was available to all of the government leaders from 1964 to 1999 both as a residence and for reception purposes.
In 2001, the Wüstenrot Foundation took over the building as part of a conservation programme and began extensive renovations and repairs in 2006. The bungalow was formally re-opened in 2009.
Haus der Geschichte offers guided tours of the Chancellor’s bungalow, providing insights into the representative and private rooms along the way. An exhibition provides information on the Federal Chancellor and the use of the building.
